The MaxSaver system, developed by Ecoair, is an off grid, direct current, power generation system designed to provide reliable power generation for net-zero energy homes. Unlike conventional, gasoline, standby generators, the MaxSaver system has been designed for heavy use. It can be used as a main power generator or in conjunction with off-grid solar electric panels and/or wind turbines where power is stored in batteries for on demand use.

The system is available in 12V, 24V, and 48V DC configurations and consists of a small Yanmar diesel engine, Ecoair’s high output at low RPM/high efficiency alternator, an engine controller, and a fuel storage tank, any of which can be purchased separately. Additionally, Ecoair can supply DC appliances, such as air conditioners, refrigerators, and freezers.

The MaxSaver system minimizes fuel consumption by:

    1. using a highly efficient diesel engine correctly sized for the electrical load
    1. operating the diesel engine at the speed where the electrical load is handled most efficiently
    1. using Eco-Tech low-RPM alternators that have unmatched efficiency, thereby adding to the fuel saving

The MaxSaver system can also be used as a backup charging system whenever:

    1. the batteries are depleted due either to the night electrical load having depleted the batteries
    1. or when the batteries have not been recharged by solar panels or a wind turbine due to weather conditions

The MaxSaver system utilizes a smart charging system that controls the charging rate to prevent damage to the batteries. It automatically starts the engine when the batteries are depleted, and shuts off when the batteries are fully charged. In addition, the cost of an inverter/converter to increase the voltage to 110 or 220 and change the current from DC to AC can be avoided along with the electrical efficiency losses caused by those devices.
